I have indeed noticed a sudden "surge" in the availability of info. concerning our state's gold resources. I remember only 10 years ago, I had to quite literally " dig " up what I was looking for in the U.A. campus geology records! Yet still with all the records and locations, I found myself stuck. I really wanted at least a chance to put a pan in the creek, but where to go? As you stated, I found that most all gold bearing land was private. I made countless calls, U.S. forrestry, U.S.G.S. , Talladega Ntl. Forrest and many visitor centers of Clay, Clebourne and Talladega... They all treated me like a loon! Most had no idea gold was anywhere in Al. Thank you so much for putting this information out so others can gain access to it.
Over the years, I have aquired tons of documents, U.S.G.S. survey's ect. I have access to basically any question one could have on this subject, if I could be of any help to expand knowledege, I would be very happy to give any inf I have collected. One very helpful booklet I came across was entitled " GOLD DEPOSITS OF ALABAMA " put out by the Geological Survey Of Alabama ( Bulletin # 136 ) It contains everything one could ask for, locations, amounts of Load, Vein and Placer deposits, along with brief history of all the spots.

 Thanks again; jeremy j. fowler
