City of Lineville, Alabama
On February 3, 1870, the name of the town changed from County Line to Lineville. The name change was made because the Randolph/Talladega county line running directly through the town had gone away with the establishment of Clay County. In short, the town was no longer situated on a county line. However, the citizens insisted upon keeping something familiar in the new name – thus “Lineville” was a compromise of sorts. The city of Lineville was incorporated on December 14, 1898.

May 25, 2010 – Washington, DC – Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar today announced the designation of 31 trails in 15 states as national recreation trails, adding more than 716 miles of trails to the National Trails System. The announcement comes in anticipation of National Trails Day on June 5, when trail dedications and other activities will take place at new and existing trails.
“From coast to coast, the National Trails System helps connect American families with the wonders of the great outdoors,” said Salazar. “These new national recreation trails, built through partnerships with local communities and stakeholders, will create new opportunities for fitness and stewardship while creating a lasting legacy for our children and grandchildren.”

Let’s build more trails!
Mark your calendars and come out for another great trail building weekend on March 27 & 28. Have a really fun time and I provide lunch.
Thanks to Woody and his large group from north Georgia, the Wines, Philippe and Chris from Auburn, and Ken from north of Decatur, we built two full trails and some hill climbs back in February… let’s see if we can top that!
Cut trails for a for a while, eat good, then play the rest of the day on us. Even camp out if you like. Bring cutting tools and gloves. Arrive by 9:30. If you just want to pay & ride (not volunteer), we won’t be in your way.
Call Gannon with any questions at 770-241-3182.
