• HIPPY ENROLLMENT: Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is a parent involvement, school readiness program that helps parents prepare their three, four, and five year old children for success in school and beyond. The parent is provided with a set of carefully developed curriculum, books and materials designed to strengthen their children’s cognitive skills, early literacy skills, social/emotional and physical development. Alabama Cooperative Extension System presents “Small Steps to Health and Wealth Program”

Small Steps to Health and Wealth was written because many Americans are experiencing “issues” (read: serious problems) related to their health (e.g., diabetes and obesity) or personal finances (e.g., high debt and low savings) or both.  There are also many similarities between both aspects of life that few books have explored.

Thursday night, December 17th, will be our last Christmas Celebration with the Live Nativity scene and Caroling for this year.
We have added to our Nativity scene and will be presenting, along with Mary and Joseph, the Three Wisemen, an Angel, and the Shepherd Boy and his sheep.

There also will be a drawing at 6:00pm for the Manger that is being used during these events. We have had such an overwhelming response regarding the Manger that we decided to give it away. It will be available for pick-up anytime after Dec. 23rd. Names for the drawing can be submitted in the store this week but the person must be present at the time of the drawing to win.

We are excited about this week with all the new additions and we have invited all of the participating churches to come and sing carols as a group. Please mark your calendars and come and enjoy as we Celebrate Christ this Christmas. There will be plenty of refreshments on hand too!

The Clay County Arts League Women’s Chorus & First United Methodist Church of Ashland are proud to present

The Sounds of Christmas

Sunday December 13th at 6 pm
First United Methodist Church of Ashland

The Clay County Women’s Chorus will be performing Christmas music.  We will be joined by members of The First United Methodist Church’s Youth Choir.

This is an opportunity to hear your favorites as well as some songs that aren’t so familiar. We have a wonderful group of singers from all over the county.  Very few small counties have a community chorus.  We are excited about what we are doing, and we hope you will come out and support us.  We also hope to pick up new members after the first of the year, so if you are interested, this is an opportunity to come and check us out.

A reception will follow the program in the Church Fellowship Hall.

We are excited to announce the news about a book signing event with Danny Hubbard on Thursday, December 3rd  from 4:00 – 6:00. Be sure to make plans to come meet Danny and to get a signed copy of  Apocolypse Alive . This is a great book and would make an awesome Christmas gift for anyone one your list who loves searching out Scripture on the end-times and Biblical prophecy. But better yet, with all the hype right now about the year 2012, people are getting more curious and are seeking answers. God has opened a door for Christians to be able to freely discuss Scriptures with folks. Are we ready to use this opportunity that He has given us? This is a fantastic book that is full of KJV Scripture that will help us to get better prepared in order to deal with most of those concerns.
